An audio tour of Buckingham Palace in Brazilian Portuguese is now available for visitors to the Summer Opening of the State Rooms, complementing a new Brazilian Portuguese edition of the Buckingham Palace Official Souvenir Guide. Brazilian Portuguese audio tours are already offered at the Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace, at Windsor Castle and at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Figures published by VisitBritain, the national tourism agency, show a steep rise in Brazilian visitors to the UK in recent years. Over 260,000 Brazilians visited in 2012 alone, an increase of 97% compared to five years ago.  At the official residences of The Queen, the number of Brazilian visitors increased three-fold between 2006 and 2012.
The Buckingham Palace audio tour, which is available free of charge to all visitors, provides a lively guide to royal history and works of art from the Royal Collection.  Introduced by The Prince of Wales, Chairman of The Royal Collection Trust, it takes you through the Palace’s State Rooms and the special exhibition. Along the route, staff of the Royal Household explain the role of Buckingham Palace as an official residence of Her Majesty The Queen and talk about their work, from arranging State Banquets and Garden Parties to cleaning the chandeliers.
The Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace, including this year’s special exhibitionThe Queen’s Coronation 1953, is from 27 July to 29 September 2013. Audio tours are also available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Mandarin.
